Nahdet Misr Publishing House, in cooperation with the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, celebrated the launch of the novel “Mario w Abu Abbas” by wildly acclaimed Egyptian author Reem Bassiouney, in the presence of many public figures, writers, and media professionals.
The event witnessed the attendance of an impressive amount of fans of writer Reem Bassiouney in the audience and readers interested in historical literature.
The ceremony was moderated and discussed by Dr. Maysara Abdullah, Executive Vice President of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, who specializes in Egyptian antiquities, and writer Nashwa Al-Hofy, Director of Publishing at Nahdet Misr House, in the presence of Professor Dalia Ibrahim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nahdet Misr.
During the ceremony, Egyptian writer Reem Bassiouney revealed the scenes of her new novel, “Mario w Abu al-Abbas,” and talked about the difficulties she faced in writing the novel, whose events take place in two different time periods: the first: the era of Morsi Abu al-Abbas, and the second: the era of the Italian architect Mario Rossi.
She explained her journey as she wrote this astonishing work of art. Before writing the book Bassiouney had done extensive research for two years straight about the personality of Morsi Abu Abbas, traveled to Alexandria, met his family and friends, and obtained valuable information about his life.
As for the character of Mario Rossi, Bassiouney said that she researched his works and letters, and also spoke with his granddaughter and his family,
The renowned author was able to achieve fame and acquire a large fanbase as she has a wonderful and interesting ability to tell historical stories. This work is considered the latest among her distinguished publications.
For his part, Dr. Maysara Abdullah, a specialist in Egyptian antiquities, expressed his great admiration for the novel, describing it as unique and reflecting the spirit of Alexandria and its ancient history.
Nahdet Misr Publishing House chose to hold the book signing ceremony at the museum in order to create a historical atmosphere, as the novel explores events from Egyptian and Italian history, which distinguishes Bassiouney.
