Egypt’s  President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has approved a new financial agreement between Egypt and the European Union to support the country’s environmental and sustainable development goals.

Under Republican Decree No. 95 of 2025, Egypt will receive a €7 million grant from the EU as part of the Green Facility Program — an initiative designed to help fund projects that protect the environment, promote clean energy, and support the transition to a green economy.

The agreement was previously approved by the Egyptian Parliament during its session held on April 15, 2025, and has now been officially published in the Official Gazette, confirming its legal status.

Boosting Egypt’s Environmental Agenda

The EU-funded grant will support projects in areas such as renewable energy, water and waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainable use of resources

The program aims to help Egypt reduce its carbon footprint, improve environmental infrastructure, and create new economic opportunities through green jobs and investments.

Strengthening Egypt–EU Cooperation

This grant reflects the deepening partnership between Egypt and the European Union, especially in key areas like climate action and sustainable development. It also supports Egypt’s long-term vision of becoming a regional leader in green growth and environmental innovation.

The Green Facility is part of the EU’s broader support for partner countries in the southern Mediterranean, providing financial and technical assistance to boost resilience and advance global climate goals.
