Organon and Forge Society Collaborate to Raise Awareness of Family Planning in Egypt through “Her Summit”

In honor of World Contraception Day, Organon, a multinational healthcare organization that focuses on women’s health, organized the “Her Summit” in Cairo in partnership with the Forge Society, which is the “Foundation of Obstetrics, Reproductive Health, and Gynecology in Egypt.” Leading authorities, medical professionals, and legislators convened at the event to talk about the importance of family planning for promoting gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the decline of poverty in Egypt.

According to osoulmisr magazine the main focus of the occasion was Organon’s dedication to provide women with safe and efficient family planning choices. Organon, a pioneer and supporter of women’s health, feels that family planning is essential to enhancing the well-being of women, their families, and their communities.

Dr. Doaa Mohamed Ali, Head of the Central Department for Family Development Unit at the Ministry of Health; Dr. Abeer El-Behiry, General Manager of Drug Utilization and Pharmacy Practice at the Egyptian Drug Authority; Dr. Maha Mowafy, Program Specialist at UNFPA; Dr. Maha Wanis, Senior Health Nutrition and Population specialist at the World Bank; and Dr. Tarek Abo El-Einein, Organon Country Lead for Egypt & Levant, were among the distinguished guests who kicked off the event with a panel discussion. Collectively, they examined the prospects and obstacles for accomplishing Egypt’s family planning objectives, emphasizing the supplementary advantages of employing long-acting family planning alternatives.

The president of Egypt has made women’s health a top priority in recent years, and the government has introduced a number of programs to that end. The goal of Egypt’s current National Population Strategy 2015–2030 is to lower the average number of children per woman, or TFR, from 3.5 in 2014 to 2.4.According to Dr. Doaa Mohamed Ali, head of the Ministry of Health’s Central Department for Family Development Unit, the Egyptian government just established the “Bedaya” project, which is supported by President El-Sisi. The program seeks to assist all Egyptian family members, regardless of age or category, with a focus on women. Dr. Doaa also mentioned Egypt’s recent success in lowering its fertility rate.
