The President of the National Council for Women, Dr. Maya Morsi, met with Barbiboeva Ozoda, Head of the Family and Women’s Committee in Uzbekistan, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two sides and exchange expertise and experiences on the issue of women’s empowerment between the two countries.
Their discussion was on the sidelines of the activities of the 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) in New York.
Morsi reviewed the progress achieved in the file of economic empowerment for Egyptian women and entrepreneurship programs that aim to develop women’s project management skills, advance their entrepreneurial and personal qualities, and encourage them to start their micro-enterprises.
Moreover, she highlighted the financial inclusion programs that aim to include Egyptian women in rural villages to empower them economically and financially, integrating them into the official banking system, raising awareness and disseminating financial culture for targeted women, and eradicating digital illiteracy and providing them with high-quality financial services, through the use of technology and digitizing the working mechanism of savings and loan groups.
For her part, Barbiboeva Ozoda greeted Dr. Maya Morsi and thanked her for her efforts, cooperation, and attendance at the international forum on “The Experience of Uzbekistan and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States in Supporting Women” in the capital, Samarkand, in Uzbekistan.
She further stressed the importance of building and working on the outcomes of the Samarkand Forum to achieve maximum benefit in this regard.
Ozoda also underlined that there is a great similarity between the two sides in women’s concerns, pointing to her country’s efforts in issuing legislation and in the areas of economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and women’s health.
