Earlier today, the National Council for Women held a ceremony to honor and award Egypt’s Gender Equality Seal (EGES) to private sector companies and to grant a certificate of accreditation to the independent auditors of the seal.
The Council organized the event in partnership with the Women’s Economic and Social Empowerment Program in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development, implemented by the Foundation Pathfinder International.
President of the National Council for Women, Dr. Maya Morsi, expressed her utter joy to participate in this event to honor Egypt’s Gender Equality Seal to private sector companies and grant the certificate of accreditation to the independent auditors of the seal.
She stressed that this meeting comes under the umbrella of economic empowerment that the Egyptian state strongly supports.
During her speech at the ceremony, Morsi further stated that the Egyptian state pays great attention to the economic empowerment of women and considers it one of the goals of sustainable development, and has taken this through many policies, including Article 10 of the Egyptian Constitution, the national strategy for women’s empowerment, in addition to the ministries and concerned authorities coordinating with private parties to work on gender equality and developing women’s skills, within the national plan for gender equality.
