In the address delivered by the President of the National Council for Human Rights (NHCR) Moushira Khattab emphasized that the Egyptian State has demonstrated a deep commitment to supporting the Council in fulfilling its mission and maintaining its esteemed ranking within the international classification of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
This has been achieved through the development of a comprehensive national plan, aimed at ensuring the implementation of all the provisions of the National Human Rights Strategy, which was announced by President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi in September of last year. The plan is designed to ensure that all commitments outlined in the strategy are met within the specified timeframe.
Khattab highlighted that a symposium titled “International Cooperation and Implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy” was recently organized by the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council and the Egyptian Business Council for International Cooperation. During the symposium, the Council highlighted its important role in monitoring human rights as an independent national council for human rights.
The Council also emphasized that Egypt plays a significant role in the universal human rights system, as it contributed to the drafting of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and has ratified ten international conventions based on the Declaration. It is clear that the Council takes its responsibility seriously and is dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights in Egypt and beyond.
