Ministry of Youth Partners With NCW For Prompting Women Empowerment

Mona Yousef

Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the National Council for Women (NCW), has signed a new protocol aimed at enhancing the role of women and girls in Egypt. This partnership is part of the nation’s broader efforts to align with its Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women, reinforcing the leadership’s commitment to gender equality and women’s rights.

Strengthening Women’s Role in Egyptian Society

The protocol, signed by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the NCW, is set to become a pivotal initiative in creating comprehensive opportunities for women across the country. Dr. Sobhy highlighted the Ministry’s long-standing focus on the empowerment of women, emphasizing the critical role of young women and girls in shaping Egypt’s future. He stated that the Ministry remains committed to providing women with the resources, education, and platforms to succeed, thus contributing to the country’s overall social and economic progress.

“Through this partnership, we aim to provide a robust framework for women’s development, both within the realm of youth empowerment and broader societal contributions,” Dr. Sobhy explained. “The empowerment of women is a priority for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, with a clear focus on increasing their participation in leadership roles, particularly in areas of public service, politics, and business.”

Commitment to Gender Equality

For Counselor Amal Ammar, the NCW’s mission is clear: to promote gender equality and create an inclusive environment where women can flourish. “This collaboration represents a strategic step forward in the fight for women’s rights,” she said. “Our work focuses on enhancing the services and activities available to women through youth centers and other community initiatives. Our goal is to equip women with the necessary skills to not only survive but thrive in today’s fast-paced world.”

A core component of the agreement involves the implementation of educational programs that aim to raise awareness about women’s rights, gender equality, and leadership. By providing platforms for personal growth, this initiative seeks to ensure that women are well-prepared to take on influential roles in various sectors.

Aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030

The protocol aligns with Egypt’s broader national strategy under Vision 2030, a framework designed to position Egypt as a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable nation. Within this context, empowering women is seen as a key pillar in achieving socio-economic growth, with women’s participation in the labor market, entrepreneurship, and public life expected to contribute significantly to Egypt’s development.

As part of the agreement, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will collaborate with the NCW to design and implement training programs and workshops aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of young women. The Ministry will also work on promoting gender equality within youth centers across Egypt, ensuring that these spaces are accessible and beneficial for women of all backgrounds, particularly those in rural and underserved regions.

Fostering Long-Term Sustainability

The partnership between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NCW is not just about immediate gains but is aimed at creating lasting, sustainable change for future generations. Both parties have committed to developing initiatives that will provide lasting support for women’s rights and gender equality, ensuring that these values are embedded within Egypt’s social and cultural fabric.

As part of the long-term strategy, the protocol outlines the development of programs aimed at addressing the specific challenges faced by women and girls, including access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. The initiative will also focus on eliminating violence against women and ensuring that women have access to safe and supportive environments, both online and offline.

A Bright Future for Egyptian Women

With this partnership, Egypt is reaffirming its dedication to women’s empowerment and gender equality, ensuring that women are integral contributors to the nation’s growth and prosperity. As Dr. Sobhy noted, “This partnership represents not only a political commitment but also a deeply held belief that the future of Egypt is intertwined with the success and empowerment of its women.”

Through this collaboration, Egypt is poised to continue its progress towards a more inclusive, equitable society, where women are empowered to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
