Maya Morsi, Colombian Ambassador Examine State’s Efforts to Empower Women

President of the NCW, Dr. Maya Morsi, received Anna Melina Muñoz de Gaviria, the Colombian Ambassador to Cairo, to review the Council’s efforts in women’s empowerment and explore new ways of cooperation between the two sides.

Morsi reviewed Egypt’s efforts in liberating women, as 2017 was declared the Year of Egyptian Women, in addition to launching the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030 within the framework of sustainable development goals and in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The President of the Council explained the status of women in Egypt and the state’s efforts to empower women in all fields, pointing to the remarkable progress witnessed over the past years thanks to the strong political will to support Egyptian women and seek to empower them in all fields and support their access to the highest positions.

For her part, Ana Milena Munoz de Gaviria praised Egypt’s efforts to empower women and expressed her aspiration to cooperate with the Council in areas related to women, art, and culture through the exchange of experiences.
