Mashat Witnesses Signing of 7 Grant Agreements

Minister of International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat attended the signing of seven grant agreements at $34 M last week.

The Italian government funded the agreements to support development in various areas of Egypt. United Nations organizations and programs, the World Bank, and relevant national entities execute them.

They cover many sectors, including education and health services for women and children, economic empowerment of rural women, combating child labor, supporting the national action plan, accelerating entrepreneurship, and combating climate change, according to the “Egypt Independent” website.

The signing took place in the presence of Hassan Shehata, the Minister of Labor; Maya Morsi, the President of the National Council for Women (NCW); Nevin Othman, the Secretary General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood; Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt, and Basil Rahmi, the CEO of the Egyptian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA).

The agreements were also signed by the Italian Ambassador to Egypt, Michele Quaroni, with representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), UNICEF in Egypt, the United Nations Women, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the International Labor Organization (ILO), and representatives of the World Bank, at the headquarters the Italian embassy.
