Germien Amer, a prominent media professional and author, has been accepted as a member of the Egyptian Writers’ Union, effective 2025. This decision follows the release of her third book, Planet of Influencers, which delves into the dynamics of digital influence and its societal impact.

Established in 1975 by the esteemed writer and statesman Youssef El-Sebai, the Egyptian Writers’ Union stands as a significant cultural and professional entity in Egypt. With a membership comprising approximately 5,000 thinkers, writers, poets, and creatives, the union has been instrumental in enriching Egypt’s intellectual and literary landscape. Notable members include Nobel laureate Naguib Mahfouz and acclaimed writers like Tharwat Abaza.

The union’s mission focuses on fostering intellectual and creative movements, supporting writers and thinkers, and advocating for their rights. It also plays a pivotal role in Egypt’s cultural life by organizing various cultural and creative events, seminars, and conferences.

Amer expressed her enthusiasm about joining such a prestigious institution, emphasizing the union’s role in supporting the cultural and intellectual identity of Egypt. She highlighted the importance of the union in providing moral, legal, and intellectual support to content creators, especially in the digital age. Amer also noted the union’s role in facilitating the exchange of experiences among members and its efforts to address challenges related to intellectual property rights, particularly concerning social media and the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies.

Amer’s work underscores the growing influence of content creators in shaping public opinion and disseminating knowledge and culture through innovative means. Her membership in the Egyptian Writers Union reflects a broader recognition of the evolving landscape of content creation and its impact on society.
