The French Ambassador to Cairo, Eric Chevallier, has extended an invitation to Dr. Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, to attend the upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit, scheduled for February 10-11, 2025.
The summit will address several important topics surrounding AI, with a particular focus on leveraging AI technologies for public good and global AI governance. Dr. Talaat expressed Egypt’s keen interest in participating, highlighting the country’s advancements in AI and its commitment to showcasing its achievements in this field. He also looks forward to learning about new initiatives that will be launched during the summit.
In addition to the summit, Ambassador Chevallier invited Dr. Talaat to represent Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology as a key partner in a business forum for the French business community in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), which is set to take place in May. The forum will include a dedicated session on AI, and Dr. Talaat confirmed the ministry’s readiness to participate and present Egypt’s digital capacity-building projects, AI initiatives, and support for entrepreneurship, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises in the AI sector.
During the meeting, Dr. Talaat also invited the French Ambassador to visit Egypt’s Digital Innovation Centers, which showcase the country’s growing digital ecosystem. He proposed the possibility of organizing several activities linked to the business forum within these centers.
The meeting focused on ways to attract more French investments in Egypt’s telecommunications and IT sectors. Dr. Talaat and Ambassador Chevallier discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries, particularly in AI, and highlighted the growing presence of French companies in Egypt’s tech industry. The conversation also referenced previous talks between Dr. Talaat and French officials, as well as meetings with leaders from major French companies, which led to the expansion of two leading French firms in Egypt.
This exchange further underscores the strong relationship between Egypt and France, particularly in the fields of technology and innovation, with both countries working towards deepening their collaboration on digital transformation and AI.
