Nevine El-Kabbaj, the Minister of Social Solidarity, presided over the commemoration of the 5th anniversary of Al-Nas Charitable Children’s Hospital.

During the event, the Minister emphasized the hospital’s vital role in providing medical care for children in Egypt. The hospital, led by a dedicated civil society foundation, has made significant achievements over the past five years. It offers children the opportunity for a healthy and loving life, and the Minister announced a donation of EGP 20 million to support the hospital.

El-Kabbaj noted that the hospital has achieved several accomplishments in just a few years. It has attracted top doctors, professional staff, nursing teams, and technicians, and has been equipped with the latest medical technology.

The hospital aims to become one of the largest medical centers in the Arab region and Africa, with a capacity of up to 600 beds spread across five buildings covering an area of 30,000 square meters.

Additionally, it has 10 operating rooms, 140 critical care units, and 4 heart catheterization labs. There are also 48 outpatient clinics, all aimed at improving the quality of life for every citizen while respecting their human dignity.

It’s important to note that infants and children with heart problems require the expertise of specialized doctors and a highly trained team of specialists in a medical facility designed to meet their unique needs. Not all hospitals are able to perform pediatric heart surgery at the same level.

The Minister of Social Solidarity emphasized that the President values the role of civil society and appreciates its contribution to community service and overall development goals.

The government is committed to involving NGOs in national projects. Civil society currently addresses approximately 32% of citizens’ healthcare needs, especially in rural and remote areas.

They provide specialized medical services for diseases such as cancer, heart conditions, dialysis, reproductive health, eye care, maternal and child health, and other illnesses through modern hospitals, medical centers, clinics, and medical caravans, covering diagnostic and treatment expenses.

The collaboration between the Ministry and NGOs highlights the significant role of civil society in supporting the Ministry of Social Solidarity and other government agencies in delivering services to citizens.
