Egypt’s LRT Allocates First Women-only Vehicle

The Administrative Capital Train, the French company running Egypt’s light electric train (LRT), reserved the first car for women only to ensure that passengers are comfortable during their journey.

The train, which is headed for Badr Station, the City of Arts and Culture Station, and the City of Knowledge Station, has a first carriage reserved for women. On journeys to Adly Mansour Station, women were assigned to the sixth carriage.

With a length of 105 km and 19 stations, the light rail route begins at the Adly Mansour Central Interchange Station and runs parallel to the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road. It then branches north after Badr City until the tenth of Ramadan City, then south to the New Administrative Capital, and finally ends at the International Sports City.

The electric train project offers passenger exchange service with the third metro line at Adly Mansour Central Station to facilitate citizen mobility from Cairo to the new cities on the Cairo/Ismailia Desert Road, such as Obour, Shorouk, Mostaqbal, and Badr, as well as the Administrative Capital in the south.

To guarantee the establishment of an integrated transportation network, the light electric train additionally offers passenger exchange services with the express electric train at the Central Capital Station and the East Nile Monorail (the Administrative Capital) at the Arts and Culture Station in the Administrative Capital.

In this case, a train departing from Adly Mansour station runs every ten minutes during rush hours, heading towards the stations of the City of Knowledge and the City of Arts and Culture.

A train from Knowledge City station to Adly Mansour station departs every ten minutes. There will be a train from the City of Arts and Culture station to Adly Mansour station every thirty minutes.

From Badr station, a train to Adly Mansour station departs every ten minutes.

– Peak time in the morning: from 6:30 am to 9:30 am

– The evening peak is from 1:15 to 5:45.

Peak times for the route back to Adly Mansour station are as follows:

Daytime hours: 7:15 a.m. to 10:55 a.m.

The evening hours are 2:00 pm to 4:40 pm.
