Egypt’s Health Ministry Discloses Countermeasures Against COVID’s Variant “Eris”

Through a risk evaluation report on 9 August, The World Health Organization (WHO) recently addressed the newly discovered Covid Eris or EG.5, a descendent lineage of XBB.1.9.2, a mixture subvariant of the infamous Omicron variant.

The Ministry, however, confirmed that Egypt is yet to receive a reported case of the coronavirus’s new EG.5 variant and that there has been no sign of its spread in the state until now.

According to the Health Ministry’s Spokesman, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar’s statements, Egypt is not on the list of 51 countries already reporting cases of the new variant. That list features China with 2247 infections, the United States with 1356, and South Korea with 1040.

NeverthelessThe Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population revealed a list of preventive measures to protect against infection with the new mutant of the Coronavirus, Eris. 

The Ministry’s preventive actions include:

1- Preserving vaccinations for the groups most vulnerable to infection with Corona.

2- Adhering to all precautionary measures.

3- Obtaining vitamins under medical supervision to raise the immune status.

4- Avoid travel to countries where sick cases of the new variant of Corona appeared.

5- Advising those who feel symptoms of a common cold or coronavirus to head to the nearest hospital to receive needed treatment.
