Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population held a high-level meeting this week with the National Training Academy (NTA) to discuss strategic collaboration on training programs for medical and administrative personnel. The talks focused on developing integrated, future-ready training pathways aligned with international standards in healthcare management, governance, and service quality.
The meeting brought together Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Deputy Minister of Health for Governance, Oversight, and Institutional Development, and Dr. Solafa Goueli, Executive Director of the National Training Academy, along with senior officials from both sides.
Strategic Investment in Human Capital
According to Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the discussions aimed to design and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to Egypt’s evolving healthcare landscape. The collaboration aligns with the national agenda to build institutional capacity and invest in human capital across all levels of the health system.
The focus areas include healthcare governance, medical service quality and patient care efficiency, mid-level leadership development, as well as practical, skills-based training for frontline health workers. This is in addition to customized programs for people of determination (individuals with disabilities)
Laying the Foundation for Future-Ready Healthcare Teams
The meeting reviewed a proposed cooperation protocol with the Ministerial Group for Human Development to launch targeted and specialized training tracks, and emphasized the need to ensure inclusivity and accessibility across all initiatives.
The parties also reviewed the outcomes of the National Human Development Project, particularly the “New Beginning” (Bidaya Gedida) initiative aimed at building human capabilities and enhancing public service delivery.
A key component of the discussions included the National Skills Development Platform, a digital ecosystem designed to assess competencies, match skills with job market needs, and guide training and career development pathways.
Toward Measurable, Impact-Driven Training Programs
The meeting concluded with the drafting of a joint implementation plan, including a timeline for launching new programs, KPIs to measure training outcomes, and a commitment to long-term impact tracking on healthcare system performance.
Dr. Goueli emphasized the Academy’s mission to offer realistic and practical training solutions that meet the pressing needs of the healthcare sector.
She further noted that the National Training Academy is now positioned as a key strategic partner in delivering innovative, scalable solutions for health sector development.
