In a pivotal move towards digitizing Egypt’s healthcare infrastructure, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), held an extensive meeting with representatives from HealthFlow and Fixed Egypt to discuss mechanisms for implementing the country’s upcoming Digital Prescription Project.

The meeting marked a significant step in the EDA’s mission to modernize drug services and improve healthcare delivery by integrating advanced digital technologies into the pharmaceutical sector.

Strategic Vision: Building a Unified National Drug Data System

Dr. Al-Ghamrawy described the digital prescription initiative as a strategic milestone in Egypt’s digital healthcare transformation, emphasizing that the project aims to:

  • Enhance the accuracy and efficiency of prescription services,
  • Reduce medical errors associated with traditional paper-based systems,
  • And build a centralized drug data ecosystem that seamlessly connects healthcare providers, pharmacies, and hospitals.

This initiative is a cornerstone in our digital health strategy,” Al-Ghamrawy said. “It will ensure safer, faster, and more reliable access to medication, while supporting the rational use of drugs across Egypt.”

Collaborative Ecosystem for Smart Healthcare

The session included a technical and operational review of the project, highlighting its potential to improve service quality and ensure safer drug dispensing mechanisms for patients. Participants also explored the expected impact of the project and the framework for ongoing cooperation between EDA and its private sector partners.

Al-Ghamrawy stressed the importance of close collaboration with tech-driven companies such as HealthFlow and Fixed Egypt, as well as the contribution of the EDA’s internal digital transformation team.

He noted that the digital prescription project will be integrated into Egypt’s national digital health strategy, reinforcing the state’s broader commitment to e-health and digital infrastructure.

Key Stakeholders in Attendance

The meeting brought together key figures from both public and private sectors, reflecting the multi-stakeholder nature of Egypt’s digital health shift.

Digital Health for a Sustainable Future

The EDA reiterated its commitment to building a future-ready digital health ecosystem, centered on the citizen’s well-being and aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030. The digital prescription system is expected to:

  • Ensure secure and traceable drug dispensing,
  • Improve data-driven healthcare decision-making,
  • And provide a platform for advanced analytics and AI integration in pharmaceutical services.

Participants praised the EDA’s leadership in embracing innovation, with many calling the project a “game-changer” in Egypt’s pharmaceutical and healthcare systems.
