The Egyptian Presidency issued a statement stating that Egypt has offered to host a multilateral meeting to discuss the current situation and future of the Palestinian issue.

The invitation was extended after Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi held a National Security Council meeting to review regional developments, particularly the military escalation in the Gaza Strip, according to Xinhua news agency reports.

The Presidency also stated that Egypt is prepared to make any effort necessary to promote calm in Gaza and initiate a genuine peace process. The statement emphasized that there is no solution to the Palestinian cause except through the two-state solution, and Egypt firmly opposes the displacement of the people of Gaza or any attempt to resolve the Palestinian issue at the expense of neighboring countries.

The protection of national security is a red line, and there is no compromise in its defense. Egypt will continue to work with international and regional partners to reduce the escalation and halt the targeting of civilians.

The statement also noted that while Egypt is facing difficulties delivering humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian enclave, it will increase contact with international and regional relief organizations to provide the necessary assistance

. According to Egyptian officials and the Red Crescent, since Thursday, El Arish airport in Egypt’s North Sinai has received planes containing aid supplies for the Gaza Strip from Jordan, the UAE, Turkey, Tunisia, and the WHO.

The statement also noted that Egypt has kept the Rafah crossing, the only crossing point between Egypt and Gaza, open for aid delivery since the conflict broke out between Israel and Gaza-ruling Hamas on October 7. However, according to Egyptian officials, the Israeli bombardments on the Palestinian side of the border halted the crossing’s operation.
