Yesterday, on Sunday, March 17, an Egyptian-European summit took place in Cairo. The summit aimed to upgrade the relations between the two sides on the strategic and comprehensive partnership level.
The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Counsellor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, confirmed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has met EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, as well as leaders and heads of governments of Italy, Cyprus, Greece, and Austria at the Federal Palace today.
The President held bilateral meetings with Egypt’s European leaders to explore ways to strengthen bilateral relations. The summit further discussed various fields, including political relations, combating terrorism, and economic cooperation.
It also examined the regional situation, particularly the war in the Gaza Strip, and ways of restoring regional security and stability. The summit further focused on addressing the avoidance of the repercussions of the current tensions on international peace.
