The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) report indicated that in June 2024, the number of Egyptian women holding transaction accounts increased to 20.8 million, accounting for 63.4 percent, up from 62.7 percent in December 2023.
According to Amwal Al Ghad, the growth in women with transaction accounts can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of CBE, the National Council for Women (NCW), and the Ministry of Social Solidarity, all of whom are dedicated to improving women’s financial inclusion.
CBE, with support from various government entities, is working to broaden women’s, youth’s, people with disabilities, and entrepreneurs’ access to banking services by providing regulatory assistance, custom-tailored products, and extensive financial literacy programs.
