Representing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly arrived in New York on Saturday to lead Egypt’s delegation at the United Nations General Assembly — with a prominent focus on advancing women’s rights and gender equality.
Among the highlights of his visit is Egypt’s participation in the High-Level Meeting marking the 30th Anniversary of the World Conference on Women, a landmark event reflecting on global progress since the 1995 Beijing Declaration. Prime Minister Madbouly is set to deliver Egypt’s national address, reaffirming the country’s commitment to empowering women across all sectors of society.
Egypt’s engagement comes as part of its broader National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, which aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and has made measurable strides in areas such as political participation, education, economic inclusion, and protection from violence.
Government officials have highlighted the country’s growing representation of women in leadership roles — including in Parliament, the judiciary, and ministerial positions — as evidence of a national shift toward equity and inclusion. The Prime Minister’s remarks are expected to underscore these achievements while calling for enhanced international cooperation to remove remaining barriers facing women and girls worldwide.
In addition to his address at the women’s summit, Madbouly will also participate in the International Conference on the Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Issue and the Two-State Solution, as well as several bilateral meetings with heads of state and representatives of global organizations.
