In a significant step toward enhancing healthcare cooperation, the General Secretariat of the Arab League has signed a cooperation agreement with Ahl Masr Foundation for Development. The agreement aims to strengthen the foundation’s efforts in providing essential medical services for burn victims and enhancing regional support for burn treatment.

The cooperation agreement marks a major milestone in supporting Ahl Masr Foundation in expanding and improving its burn treatment services. The foundation has been instrumental in addressing the urgent need for specialized care for burn victims, providing free medical services through its state-of-the-art burn treatment hospital. This partnership is expected to enhance the foundation’s ability to offer high-quality healthcare to burn victims, furthering its mission of saving lives and alleviating suffering in the region.

In his address during the signing ceremony, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, highlighted the importance of the Ahl Masr Foundation’s work. He emphasized that the burn treatment center is not just a medical facility but also a humanitarian beacon, symbolizing Arab solidarity and care for vulnerable communities. “This hospital, built with donations and executed through the efforts of Egyptian hands, reflects trust in the Arab people’s ability to create real change. Today, we celebrate not just a medical achievement, but our commitment to supporting such sustainable institutions that set new standards for social responsibility,” Aboul Gheit stated.

Dr. Heba Sweidy, Founder and Chairperson of Ahl Masr Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the agreement, noting that it represents a crucial step toward fostering collaboration among regional organizations in the healthcare sector. She explained that the agreement will significantly contribute to expanding the hospital’s capabilities and furthering its ability to provide high-quality care for burn victims. The ongoing expansion of the hospital’s facilities will include the enlargement of the intensive care unit (ICU) to accommodate up to 50 rooms, the addition of a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and the establishment of a dedicated scientific research center focusing on burn treatment and recovery.

Since its opening in March 2024, the hospital has already treated more than 8,000 burn patients, including 6,500 children. With over 4,000 surgeries performed, including 2,200 for children, the hospital has proven itself as a critical facility for burn care in the region. The success of the hospital demonstrates the essential need for specialized services for burn victims and showcases the vital role Ahl Masr Foundation plays in meeting this need.

On the day of the agreement signing, a delegation from the Arab League, including Aboul Gheit, Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki, and other officials, conducted a tour of the Ahl Masr Burn Treatment Hospital. During their visit, they reviewed the specialized services offered at the hospital and praised the foundation’s efforts in saving lives and providing comprehensive healthcare services.
