Al Tadamun Microfinance Empowers Women Entrepreneurs with $49.7 Million in Funding

Al Tadamun Microfinance Foundation, a champion for women’s economic empowerment, is bucking the trend by achieving significant growth in 2023. The foundation, aligned with Egypt’s national development goals,  injects crucial capital into female-led micro-businesses.

Al Tadamun disbursed EGP 2.341 billion in 2023, a 21% increase compared to 2022. The foundation’s outstanding financing portfolio grew by 22%, reaching EGP 1.311 billion by December 2023. Further, it operates 112 branches across 14 governorates, alongside mobile units, to ensure accessibility for women entrepreneurs nationwide.

Partnering with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), Al Tadamun distributed over 7,500 Meeza cards in 2023, promoting financial inclusion. In Support of Egypt’s digital agenda as well,  Al Tadamun offers installment payments via POS terminals and boasts a 99% e-payment rate in December 2023.

Reham Farouk, CEO of Al Tadamun, emphasizes the critical role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in driving economic growth and job creation. The foundation remains committed to supporting female entrepreneurs through diverse financing options and non-financial services.

Al Tadamun Financial Director, Karim Gomaa, highlights the foundation’s impressive track record. With a cumulative financing portfolio exceeding EGP 10.5 billion over 25 years, Al Tadamun has empowered more than 2.2 million women entrepreneurs.

Al Tadamun’s partnership with Fawry, OPay, Masary, Cash Call, and others for POS terminal payments reflects its commitment to digital transformation and financial inclusion for women in Egypt.
