On March 31st, an official meeting was held between the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt, Kim Yonghyon, and the Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat. The agenda of the meeting was to explore potential collaboration opportunities between Korea and Egypt.
During the meeting, Ambassador Kim expressed his appreciation for the positive developments in Egypt’s macroeconomic situation that are benefitting Korean companies operating in Egypt.
Additionally, he acknowledged the leadership and role of the Minister in concluding a series of agreements with international partners, including the IMF, EU, and World Bank.
Minister Al-Mashat expressed her appreciation for the growing cooperation between Egypt and Korea. She acknowledged the Korean Embassy’s efforts in facilitating various joint projects and emphasized the importance of further strengthening the partnership between the two countries.
Al-Mashat also highlighted the positive impact of the cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, and cultural exchange, and expressed her optimism for the future of the bilateral relations.
Ambassador Kim provided Minister Al-Mashat with a comprehensive briefing on the upcoming Korea-Africa Summit, scheduled to take place on June 4th-5th this year in Korea. The Ambassador also requested Egypt’s active contribution towards ensuring the success of this historic summit. He further commended the improved stability of the Egyptian economy, which he believed would pave the way for more Korean companies to invest in Egypt in the near future.
During his speech, he emphasized that the upcoming summit will serve as a driving force in promoting the comprehensive and cooperative partnership between Korea and Egypt. He further added that this event will also contribute significantly to strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and expanding their partnerships with African nations.
