Ain Shams’s Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit Launch the “Sehetak Tehemna” Campaign

Ain Shams University Faculty of Alsun hosted the events of the campaign launched by the Women’s Support and Violence Unit of the University, under the auspices of Dr. Mohammed Zia, Rector, Dr. Ghada Farouk Vice-Chancellor for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Salwa Rashad Dean of the College, supervised by Dr. Yemeni Safwat, Vice-President of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Hind Hilali, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit.

 

In her opening address, Dr. Yemeni Safwat emphasized that the role of the University is central and ensures awareness-raising campaigns among students with a view to creating a new generation that can cope with working life after graduation armed with science and culture within the framework of the State’s Strategic Plan 2030.

Dr. Hind Al-Hilali stressed the role of the University in taking all actions and how to deal with cases of violence, bullying or harassment on the psychological and social side, and how to transform these cases for the Unit to take the necessary legal action through the Legal Committee, the Psychological Support Committee, the Training and Capacity Development Committee, and the Social and Entrepreneurship Committee.

It reviewed the Unit’s main achievements and how it operates inside and outside the campus as the first unit at the level of Egyptian universities, based on scientific foundations to combat all forms of violence within the university and reports directly to the Rector of the University to take deterrent action against any student or professor who has issued an inappropriate attitude within the campus; This step serves as the strength and support of the University, after presenting consultants and writing the report, as well as working to calm the girl and confront her problem.

Dr. Rania Samir, Professor of Paediatrics in Al-Aini Palace and Trainer accredited with Rotary Club Egypt, addressed the initiative to eliminate cervical tumors in Egypt during a two-year plan due to its high prevalence in Egypt and the Arab country, and the spread of its prevention in Egypt, about 1350 women with late stages.

She noted that one of its biggest causes was the so-called HPV, the human papillary virus, and addressed how to prevent cervical cancer; It is the only cancer that can be prevented by vaccination against the virus.

She emphasized that HIV affects both men and women and causes anal, oral and genital cancer for men. For women, it causes cervical cancer. The virus can infect a person without any symptoms and about 80% of people are treated within two years without any medical intervention on their own.
