Dr. Wissam Mohamed, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Mass Communication at Ahram Canadian University, has been selected to represent Egypt in the Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSI) program, an academic exchange initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
Dr. Mohamed will participate in the summer institute hosted by the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, running from June through July 12, 2025. The program brings together accomplished academics from around the world to explore American society, culture, values, and institutions, with a specialized focus on media and journalism.
Her selection follows a rigorous, multi-phase evaluation process culminating in a final nomination by the program’s Washington-based headquarters. Dr. Mohamed is the sole representative from Egypt in this year’s cohort—an achievement highlighting both her individual merit and Egypt’s academic presence on the global stage.
Welcoming the news, Dr. Khaled Hamdy Abdel Rahman, President of Ahram Canadian University, praised Dr. Mohamed’s selection as a testament to the university’s growing reputation in international academic forums. “This achievement underscores the excellence of our faculty and their active engagement in global scholarly dialogues,” he said.
He further emphasized the importance of such programs in enhancing intercultural understanding and advancing the pedagogical and research capacities of participating institutions.
The SUSI program has long served as a key instrument of U.S. public diplomacy, promoting mutual understanding and academic collaboration between American institutions and their counterparts abroad. Dr. Mohamed’s participation not only strengthens academic ties between Egypt and the United States but also positions Ahram Canadian University at the forefront of global academic exchange.
