A Royal Night in Cairo: The Grand Ball Arrives at Egypt’s Abdeen Palace for the First Time

In a historic first, Egypt hosted the world-renowned Grand Ball (The Grand Ball) royal gala today at Abdeen Palace, one of the most iconic royal palaces in the world. The event, traditionally held in the Principality of Monaco, was brought to Cairo under the organization of Noble Monte-Carlo, marking the first time the prestigious celebration has taken place outside its European home.

The Grand Ball is recognized as one of the most exclusive royal events globally, annually held under the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. Classified as an Ultra Luxury Royal Event, it draws an elite circle of royal families, nobles, diplomats, and leading figures from global society.

A Royal Celebration in the Heart of Cairo

This year’s Grand Ball was hosted under the auspices of Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, as part of the fifth edition of the international “Hope Givers” campaign, held from November 7 to 9 in Cairo.

The celebrations began yesterday at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, while the campaign’s final closing ceremony is scheduled for November 9 at the New Administrative Capital’s Opera House.

The gala at Abdeen Palace witnessed a distinguished royal and diplomatic presence, including Her Royal Highness Princess Béatrice of Bourbon–Two Sicilies, His Highness Prince Joachim Murat, and official representatives of the Monaco princely court, alongside senior governmental figures from France, Europe, Egypt, and prominent international personalities.

Egypt Showcases Its Royal Heritage and Modern Grandeur

Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathy, expressed his pride in hosting the Grand Ball for the first time, describing it as “a reflection of the international community’s confidence in Egypt’s ability to host ultra-luxury cultural and heritage events.”

“This event highlights Egypt’s timeless royal legacy while showcasing its modern architectural renaissance,” Fathy said. “It positions Egypt as a global destination capable of blending sophistication, culture, and heritage.”

Eng. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting exceptional global events that elevate Egypt’s international profile.

“Hosting a globally recognized Ultra Luxury Royal Event is a clear statement that Egypt stands among the world’s most distinctive luxury and heritage destinations,” Youssef said. “With our historic palaces and modern projects like the New Administrative Capital, Egypt bridges the past and the future.”

He added that the event represents a unique opportunity to promote Egypt globally as a destination combining royal elegance, artistic culture, and contemporary luxury.

World-Class Hospitality and Coordination

To ensure a world-class experience, the Tourism Promotion Authority’s Cairo International Airport office coordinated the arrival and reception of international guests, providing all necessary facilities and reflecting Egypt’s professional capacity to host global high-profile events.

Yesterday, as part of the “Hope Givers” campaign, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization hosted the International Masterclass, organized in collaboration with international institutions including Better World Fund and Listen2Hearn, supporting global humanitarian and health initiatives.

A Legacy of Elegance and Humanity

The Grand Ball has deep roots in European tradition. It was first launched in 1954 in Monaco under the patronage of the late Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace Kelly, and has since continued under Prince Albert II’s supervision.

The gala celebrates art, culture, and refinement while supporting humanitarian and charitable causes. Each year, it gathers royal families, nobles, cultural icons, and diplomats in an evening symbolizing elegance, unity, and human cooperation.

A Royal Night to Remember

Hosting The Grand Ball in Cairo’s Abdeen Palace—a symbol of Egypt’s regal past—represents more than a night of luxury. It underscores Egypt’s growing role as a cultural and tourism hub bridging continents, and as a nation capable of reimagining royal tradition with a distinctly Egyptian grandeur.
