Egypt’s higher education sector received a positive boost with 13 universities included in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2024. Announced by Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour, this achievement reflects the growing international recognition of Egyptian academic institutions.
The QS Rankings, which evaluate over 15,559 universities worldwide based on academic and scientific criteria, showcase the strengths of Egyptian universities. Cairo University emerged as a leader, ranking among the top institutions in six areas – Archaeology, Dentistry, Development Studies, Hospitality Management, Linguistics, and Statistics & Operational Research. Notably, Cairo University secured a remarkable 38th position globally in Library & Information Management, followed closely by Alexandria University. Further, the American University in Cairo also garnered recognition.
These rankings serve as a valuable resource for prospective students seeking world-class education in specific fields. The QS methodology applies standards, including global academic and employer surveys, research impact based on citations, and the h-index, to provide a comprehensive evaluation of universities across various subjects.
