The PSA Foundation’s Women in Coaching Fund (WICF) empowered 14 Arab women to become certified squash coaches within their communities.
Launched in 2023, the WICF aims to bridge the gender gap in squash coaching. This latest program, held in collaboration with the World Squash Federation (WSF), provided these women with the necessary qualifications to inspire the next generation of female players.
Squash Player, Omneya Abdelgawy, offered valuable guidance and motivation to the participants. “We need more women involved in all aspects of squash,” she emphasized. “This program is a fantastic step forward, and the enthusiasm is contagious!”
Black Ball Open promoter Omar Raef echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of female role models in sports. “Having female coaches fosters a more inclusive environment, allowing young girls to feel comfortable and excel,” he explained.
Amna El Tarabolsy of the Egyptian Squash Federation further stressed the power of female leadership. “Women bring a unique perspective and dedication to the sport,” she stated. “With this initiative, we’re unlocking a wealth of potential in female coaches and squash as a whole.”
This program brings the total number of coaches empowered by the WICF to 43. The PSA Foundation is committed to continuing these efforts and fostering a more diverse and inclusive coaching landscape in squash.
