Visa Inc. has signed an exclusive strategic partnership with EgyptAir, marking a significant leap toward the digitalization of Egypt’s aviation sector. The agreement underscores Visa’s broader vision of expanding its digital payment infrastructure in emerging markets and reinforces its commitment to supporting key industries through secure and innovative financial solutions.
Malaak El Baba, Visa’s General Manager in Egypt, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that the partnership aligns with Visa’s strategy to broaden the adoption of digital transactions and fortify its footprint in critical sectors such as aviation. “This collaboration enables us to reach a wide segment of Egyptian consumers, offering them cutting-edge, secure, and high-standard digital solutions,” El Baba noted on the sidelines of the signing ceremony.
The partnership will accelerate EgyptAir’s growth by embedding advanced technological payment solutions into its service ecosystem. Under the agreement, Visa and EgyptAir will co-launch a suite of co-branded credit cards, targeting the issuance of thousands of units within the next six to seven months. These cards will provide customers with a suite of exclusive benefits—including accelerated mileage accumulation, personalized promotional offers, and a tailored suite of experiences that reflect individual travel preferences.
“The launch of the Visa EgyptAir cards will not only enhance the travel experience but also contribute to a broader push towards digital adoption,” El Baba said. She emphasized that the offering is part of Visa’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s digital transformation and fostering innovation in sectors vital to national development.
Visa’s strategic direction in the region reflects a long-term ambition: to be the preferred technology partner for leading institutions. El Baba described this partnership as a “powerful addition” to Visa’s expanding digital portfolio in Egypt.
