Germane Haddad, Deputy Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Egypt, emphasized the Fund’s central role in delivering accurate health information to families and improving access to high-quality reproductive health services across the country.
Speaking during her appearance on the television program “Ahlam Watan” (“Dreams of a Nation”), Haddad said that empowering families to make informed reproductive choices begins with ensuring they receive the right information in the right way. She noted that UNFPA is currently disseminating health messages and educational materials through accessible and simplified communication channels that are designed to reach families at all levels of society.
“Our aim is to make these vital services available everywhere, so that every family can make the reproductive decisions that are best for them,” she stated.
Reaching Underserved Communities Through Mobile Clinics
Haddad highlighted the ongoing implementation of the Emergency Population Plan 2025–2027, which includes the deployment of mobile clinics in governorates across Egypt. These mobile units are strategically focused on underserved and high-need areas, delivering direct access to medical consultations, family planning services, and health awareness campaigns.
The initiative, she explained, is not only about service delivery but also about building trust with local communities and encouraging families to engage with professional healthcare providers. This mobile outreach model aims to bridge the gap in service accessibility, particularly in rural and marginalized regions.
Progress in Women’s and Family Health
The UNFPA official also commended Egypt for its significant progress in women’s, child, and family health, citing tangible improvements over recent years. She stressed the importance of preserving and building upon these gains, which she attributed in part to ambitious presidential health initiatives that have expanded the scope and reach of healthcare services.
“These national initiatives have played a crucial role in elevating the quality of healthcare and ensuring it reaches all segments of society,” Haddad said. She reaffirmed UNFPA’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s development agenda and contributing to the country’s efforts to achieve sustainable population growth and health equity.
As Egypt continues to implement its Vision 2030 goals, the collaboration between international organizations like UNFPA and national authorities remains essential in delivering comprehensive, inclusive, and rights-based reproductive health services to all Egyptians.
