During her official visit to Egypt, Halida Bouzar, Assistant Secretary-General And Director Of The UN Development Programme Regional Bureau For Arab States, lauded Egypt’s progress that has been achieved during the previous years with regard to women empowerment, lauding the Egyptian women’s efforts and notable progress in breaking the glass ceiling.
Halida made her remarks during her meeting with the NCW Chairperson, Dr. Maya Morsy. The meeting took place in the NWC’s headquarters, witnessing the attendance of the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Mr. Philippe Lazzarini. She also praised remarking the woman’s role on a day conceding with the COP 27 that Egypt will host next November. She also highlighted that the bureau would be willing to cooperate with the NWC to contribute to this unique event’s success. She also praised the gender quota and women’s representation in the Egyptian parliament.
On the other hand, Dr. Maya Morsy lauded the existing partnership between the NWC and the UN Development Programme Regional Bureau, highlighting the NWC’s preparations for COP2. She also nictitated the importance of the NWC’s coming event, as it will raise awareness among women will shed light on the available opportunities for women to support the green economy.
