In a celebration of Egypt’s deep-rooted artistic legacy and thriving handicraft industry, the Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) has announced the launch of the seventh edition of Turathna (Our Heritage) Exhibition 2025, taking place from October 4–11 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
Held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the annual event is Egypt’s largest showcase of traditional crafts, heritage arts, and handmade products, reflecting the government’s strategic commitment to empower millions of artisans, especially youth and women across Upper Egypt and border governorates.
A National Platform for Egypt’s Handicraft Economy
Speaking on the occasion, Basil Rahmy, CEO of MSMEDA, highlighted the growing significance of Turathna as more than just an exhibition — but a national platform to connect craftsmen and entrepreneurs with government bodies, development partners, and new markets.
He emphasized that Turathna 2025 will bring together:
- Over 1,000 exceptional heritage-based projects
- Representatives from ministries, universities, civil society organizations, and international agencies
- A broad network of governmental and non-governmental stakeholders all aligned to support, finance, and market Egypt’s traditional industries
Expanding Market Access and Youth Empowerment
Rahmy noted that MSMEDA and its partners aim to use the exhibition to:
- Promote financial and technical services for artisans and entrepreneurs
- Open new local and international marketing channels
- Increase awareness of government services for small projects
- Encourage youth engagement in self-employment and creative industries
“This year’s edition is the largest yet, with wider participation from ministries and institutions dedicated to preserving Egyptian heritage and boosting micro-enterprise development,” Rahmy added.
Honoring Egypt’s Ancient Civilizational Roots
Reflecting Egypt’s historic identity, Turathna 2025 has adopted Ancient Egyptian civilization as its theme — honoring the origins of craftsmanship that began thousands of years ago and have continued to evolve across generations.
The exhibition will pay tribute to the timeless beauty and ingenuity of Egyptian heritage, while showcasing how these ancient traditions are being reimagined with modern flair to meet today’s global standards and consumer trends.
