Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry received Tuesday from UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous to discuss devising ways to put an end to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip and to the severe Israeli attacks on children and women in violation of international law.

The minister underscored the salience of an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid safely and sustainably, describing Israeli practices as war crimes. He noted that a third of victims, whose number amounts to over 11,000, are children and that the figure also includes 3,000, which can never be called self-defence.

On her side, Bahous highlighted that there were 55,000 pregnant women in Gaza and that the constant shelling of hospitals had disabled them from providing healthcare to patients and the injured.
