Yesterday, October 17th, the UN Secretary-General said he was horrified by the killing of hundreds of civilians, mostly women and children following a strike on a hospital in Gaza on Tuesday.
On his official Twitter “X” account, António Guterres strongly condemned the strike and sympathized with the families of those who died, tweeting: I am horrified by the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians in a strike on a hospital in Gaza today, which I strongly condemn. My heart is with the families of the victims. Hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law.
Mr. Guterres stressed in his message on X that hospitals and all medical personnel are protected under international law.
Currently, both sides are continuing to throw the blame on each other.
Denying responsibility, the Israeli Defense Forces tweeted that according to their intelligence information, rockets fired by Islamic Jihad militants towards Israel were to blame, having deviated off course.
On their part, the Health Ministry in the Hamas-controlled enclave blames the Israeli military for an airstrike that hit Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, stressing that nearly all the victims are women and children.
