To combat fraudulent activities by certain drivers and enhance passenger safety, the ride-hailing app Uber has introduced a set of new measures. One of these initiatives is an option for encrypted audio recordings during trips across the country, which can be reviewed in cases of reported misconduct.
The app also includes an emergency button that allows passengers and drivers to contact the police in the event of an accident, as well as sending a safety notification to the Uber team.
The company has also implemented a feature to conceal the identity of the caller, which enables passengers and drivers to communicate without revealing their phone numbers when using Uber. Additionally, the app has the capability to scan for phone numbers shared through its chat service and alert users about potential privacy risks associated with sharing phone numbers.
According to Cairo Scene Passengers will have the ability to select the safety features they wish to utilize within the app under the ‘Safety Preferences’ section, giving them control over their trip experience. They can choose up to three safety features to be automatically activated based on the timing or location of the trip.
Furthermore, Uber will utilize new methods for driver screening, including pioneering technology introduced for the first time in the Middle East to authenticate documents provided by drivers before they are allowed to create an account on the platform.
Additionally, a new training course has been incorporated for the specialized team responsible for reviewing and approving these documents. The company has also updated its procedures to include the collection of monthly random drug analysis samples to ensure the accuracy of the screening process for partner drivers in Egypt.
