Dr. Nevin Al-Qabaj, the Minister of Social Solidarity, participated in the closing ceremony of the third season of the “Wahda Gedeeda” program and presented prizes to the ten most deserving women who had successfully faced their obstacles.
Al-Qabaj emphasized the vital role that women play in society considering they are the ones who raise the next generation. They also play a significant role in helping to rebuild the nation by engaging in a variety of fields and professions. Al-Qabaj continued by announcing that the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Nasser Social Bank were offering each of the inspirational women an incentive bonus worth twenty thousand pounds.
Al-Qabaj went on to say that Egyptian women have made significant contributions to the revival of both ancient and modern societies, and that Egyptian women’s struggle for freedom, independence, and access to equality and rights in the workplace has been documented in history. Over time, Egyptian women have been shown to be the other half of society’s caregivers and providers.
According to the Minister, women carry out the majority of society’s tasks and are participants in its management. The ministry constantly strives to eliminate the obstacles women experience in order to promote women’s social roles, which is a binding obligation. The minister emphasized that a number of significant projects and initiatives pertaining to women’s rights were to be implemented through actual investments, particularly in economic empowerment, as part of the National Human Rights Strategy, which was introduced in 2021.
The State has succeeded in advancing the status of women and guaranteeing their access to equal education, implementing integrated health programs for Egyptian women, supporting financially women who are the breadwinners, promoting economic empowerment and financial inclusion, encouraging microprojects, placing women in positions of ministry and leadership, establishing the Government Excellence Award for Women, tackling the debts of female offenders, assisting women with disabilities, tending to the needs of the mothers of injured and martyred individuals, addressing all forms of violence against women, and honoring elderly women.
The Minister of Solidarity emphasized that focusing on women and their role is essential to development and will undoubtedly lead to sustainability because women’s issues are human rights issues and a pressing need for achieving social justice because they are crucial to the development of societies and the advancement of Egypt.
Two discussion sessions were part of the program. The first focused on a recently published book in its second edition and featured ten inspirational women who shared their experiences and triumphs. The second session was billed “for men only” and featured a debate.
