The Influence of GenAI and ChatGPT On Egypt

On the cusp of the AI evolution, generative AI tools have emerged to facilitate people’s lives in every way. However, Chat GPT isn’t currently available in Egypt and some other countries in the MENA region.

Generative artificial intelligence has become ‘the next big thing’ in tech. From chatbots to multimedia generation and editing to automated note-taking, new tools using AI-based technology have garnered widespread attention in the past few months. It does this by learning patterns from existing data, then using this knowledge to generate new and unique outputs.

ChatGPT, a chatbot trained using generative AI technology, has been a life-changing transition amid this surge in interest in AI. AI tools can effectively con positively impact various areas of life, especially in Egypt and the MENA region.

As Egypt was the host of COP 27, Egypt has already shown a keen interest in climate change and water scarcity solutions. AI can significantly contribute to building data centers and generating efficient water-consuming models in the water-stressed region.

Imitating human creativity, AI tools can uniquely a variety of data, such as images, content, videos, audio, text, and 3D models.

However, there is a rising concern related to the challenges of regulating the usage of ChatGPT and AI models, especially since Egypt recently launched the National Strategy for Intellectual Property to prevent violating intellectual property rights.

Hence, we still need to find the best way to balance keeping pace with the AI evolution and preserving intellectual property rights without being left behind or losing the human touch.
