European Union and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi signed an 8-billion-dollar aid package for the country yesterday in Cairo, according to the “World” website.
The package includes both grants and loans spread out over four years.
It is worth noting that Egypt is in the middle of an economic crisis and already hosts more than nine million migrants and refugees.
The deal is an attempt to reinforce Egypt’s stability and counter-migration efforts at a time when the country faces increased economic and security pressures from the war in Gaza.
