On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his delegation. General Intelligence Service Chief Abbas Kamel was also present at the meeting, as confirmed by Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
The dialogue centered on ongoing collaborative initiatives to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and streamline the process of exchanging hostages and captives. Spokesman Fahmy noted that both parties have committed to escalating these endeavors in the present timeframe.
During the meeting, Egypt’s initiatives to provide humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of Gaza were deliberated upon. President Sisi emphasized the significance of mobilizing global efforts to eliminate barriers to the distribution of humanitarian assistance. He also underscored the necessity to halt the hostilities in the region, prevent further escalation of the conflict, and advance the implementation of the two-state solution, as conveyed by Spokesman Fahmy.
Secretary Blinken expressed the US Administration’s gratitude for Egypt’s continued efforts on political and humanitarian fronts. Additionally, Spokesperson Fahmy reiterated his dedication to collaborative endeavors aimed at promoting peace and security in the region. The meeting highlighted the robustness of the US-Egypt strategic partnership, with both countries affirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination on critical matters including regional security, economic development, and cultural exchange.
