In a major move to enhance Egypt’s position as a global textile hub, Walid Gamal El-Din, Head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), today signed an agreement with Gold Star Fashion, a Chinese company specializing in high-quality apparel production. The agreement is part of a $4.5 million investment for a new project located at the West Qantara Industrial Zone, covering an area of 23,000 square meters. The project will  create 2,000 new jobs and will export 100% of its production to international markets. The agreement was signed by Han Shoutin, Chairman of Gold Star Fashion.

Gamal El-Din highlighted the rapid success of the West Qantara Industrial Zone, which has become an emerging global destination for the textile and apparel industry in just 20 months. He noted that 15 projects have already been attracted to the zone, underscoring the success of the SCZone’s promotional strategy in fostering sustainable industrial development through comprehensive industrial complexes.

This new project will serve as a significant addition to the industrial landscape of the region and reflect the increasing attractiveness of Egypt’s industrial zones for foreign investors, especially in the ready-made garment sector. Gold Star Fashion’s project aligns with the SCZone’s vision of promoting exports, enhancing the value added to local industries, and creating employment opportunities.

In this regard, Han Shoutin, Chairman of Gold Star Fashion, emphasized the company’s ambition to expand globally, noting that the new project would play a pivotal role in the company’s growth strategy. He also emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting economic development and job creation in the communities it operates in. The project is expected to become a key center for Gold Star Fashion’s operations in Africa and the Middle East.

The industrial cluster in West Qantara now includes 12 projects, forming an integrated industrial complex specializing in design, spinning, production, printing, and dyeing of textiles and apparel, along with luggage manufacturing. These projects are primarily export-oriented, with 90%-100% of their output being shipped to international markets. The region has become a major global manufacturing hub, catering to a wide range of regional and international markets in the textile and apparel sector.
