The Saudi newspaper Al-Madina reported a historic moment, as female employees of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque participated in changing the Kaaba’s Kiswa for the first time.

A team of 159 highly skilled craftsmen from the King Abdulaziz Complex carried out the annual custom of changing the Kiswa of the Kaaba. Their expertise was evident as they dismantled the old Kiswa, installed the new one, and secured it in place on the corners and roof of the Kaaba.

The King Abdulaziz Complex for the Kiswa of the Holy Kaaba has about 200 craftsmen and administrators who work in departments such as dyeing, automatic weaving, hand weaving, printing, belting, gilding, sewing, and assembling the Kiswa.

The complex also includes supporting departments like the laboratory, administrative services, quality control, public relations, worker health, and occupational safety. Additionally, it houses the largest sewing machine in the world, 16 meters long and operated by a computer system.
