The Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly presided over a meeting to review the ongoing progress of the Great Revelation project in Saint Catherine, South Sinai. The meeting, attended by senior officials from various ministries and relevant authorities, underscored the strategic importance of the project, which has received significant attention from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The project contributes to both preserving the area’s historical and spiritual significance
Saint Catherine, home to the world-renowned Saint Catherine’s Monastery, holds immense religious value for the three Abrahamic faiths, making it a critical site for both spiritual pilgrimage and cultural tourism. The Great Revelation project aims to enhance the area’s infrastructure, improve visitor services, and safeguard its revered status while accommodating growing interest from international tourists.
Among the key developments highlighted during the meeting were the construction of a new visitor center, the creation of Peace Square, the development of an eco-lodge and mountain hotel, and the establishment of a residential district in Al-Zaytouna. Furthermore, extensive upgrades to local infrastructure, including road widening, utility enhancements, and the development of Saint Catherine International Airport, are progressing rapidly.
According to Mohamed Al-Homsani, the cabinet’s official spokesperson, the project is now 90% complete. The final stages of construction are focused on completing major facilities, including the administrative complex, new tourist areas, and the renovation of Bedouin housing. In addition to these developments, measures are being implemented to mitigate flood risks and further improve the region’s utility networks and transportation links.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of preserving the cultural and religious heritage of the site and called for ongoing educational initiatives to raise awareness of its significance across the three Abrahamic religions. As the project nears completion, preparations are underway for an official inauguration to mark the launch of these new developments, to significantly enhance the region’s appeal as a major global tourism destination.
