QNB Egypt is backing a new initiative aimed at empowering rural women in the Fayoum Governorate, with the goal of revitalizing traditional crafts and promoting sustainable economic development. This project underscores the bank’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and fostering gender equality in rural areas.
In partnership with Sonaa ElKheir Foundation, the project aims to provide vital resources, training, and mentorship to women in the Fayoum Governorate, empowering them to revive and sustain traditional crafts. The Sonaa ElKheir Foundation plays a crucial role in identifying and assisting needy women, helping them gain the skills necessary to improve their economic standing and contribute to the preservation of Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.
The project focuses on providing training and resources to rural women, enabling them to revive and sustain various traditional crafts, many of which have been passed down through generations. These crafts, once integral to local culture and heritage, are seeing a resurgence thanks to this initiative, which offers women not only the opportunity to preserve their cultural identity but also to generate income and improve their livelihoods.
QNB Egypt has committed to financing the project, which is part of the bank’s broader corporate social responsibility for supporting women’s empowerment and economic inclusion. By engaging in this initiative, the bank is helping create sustainable livelihoods for women in one of Egypt’s most historically significant and rural regions.
Together, QNB Egypt and the Sonaa ElKheir Foundation are working to create sustainable opportunities for rural women, enhancing their livelihoods and fostering a sense of community and empowerment.
Through partnerships with local organizations and artisans, the project provides skill-building workshops, mentorship programs, and access to market platforms, enabling the women participants to showcase and sell their handcrafted products, promoting the preservation of Fayoum’s cultural heritage.
