Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, began his tour of the integrated Sokhna industrial zone by inaugurating the newly developed Customs Logistics Center, established in partnership with Agility. This marks a significant step towards enhancing Egypt’s logistics capabilities, with the center aimed at improving customs clearance processes and logistics efficiency.

Strategic Investments for Economic Growth

During the visit, Mr. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, highlighted that today’s opening is part of a broader initiative involving projects valued at over $544 million across an area of 897,000 square meters. These projects will generate nearly 10,000 job opportunities, spanning industries such as logistics, engineering, construction materials, textiles, chemicals, medical gases, and renewable energy production. This reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening Egypt’s industrial and economic backbone while attracting global investment.

Improved Customs Operations

Following the inauguration of the Customs Logistics Center, Prime Minister Madbouly was briefed on its advanced operations by Mr. Wael Khalifa, Managing Director of Agility. The center, built with an investment of $60 million over a 100,000-square-meter area, is designed to expedite cargo clearance through cutting-edge technology and a digital platform. This platform allows for precise shipment management and faster customs processing times, streamlining logistics operations and reducing bottlenecks in the supply chain.

The center is also equipped with state-of-the-art inspection facilities, providing safe and efficient handling of goods during customs clearance. It includes storage solutions and advanced transportation services, ensuring the smooth flow of goods. Additionally, the center features a knowledge bank to offer training and technical support, promoting continuous improvements in operational efficiency.

Prime Minister Madbouly commended the development, noting that the new center will significantly reduce customs clearance times, contributing to a more efficient and competitive business environment.

Egypt’s Commitment to Textile Industry Growth

During his visit, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Egypt Cadi Textile Factory, part of the Teda Egypt development area within the Sokhna Industrial Zone. The $100 million investment in the textile factory will create 4,500 direct and indirect job opportunities, further solidifying Egypt’s position as a key player in the global textile industry.

Textiles are a key sector of focus for Egypt, with the government prioritizing the growth of this industry to increase exports. General Ibrahim Kamel, Minister of Industry and Transport, highlighted that the textile sector adds significant value to the economy and creates numerous employment opportunities.

Mr. Tseu Hoi, CEO of Kadi Group, explained that the factory, completed in just one year (October 2023 to October 2024), will produce both fabrics and ready-made garments. The factory aims for an annual sales target of $35 million, with a planned second phase beginning in March 2025.

The newly opened logistics and textile facilities, among others, reflect Egypt’s potential as a competitive investment hub in the region, promising further growth and job creation in the years to come.
