Egypt’s commitments to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were the subject of nationwide discussions held on September 11 by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
Hala Al Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Elena Panova, the UN resident coordinator in Egypt, and other representatives all attended the consultations.
Panova praised Egypt’s leadership for its persistent dedication to achieving the SDGs despite the country’s extraordinary obstacles.
According to the UN coordinator, the national consultations involving many facets of Egyptian society are a crucial step in forging a shared understanding of what must be done to achieve the SDGs.
The General Unified Planning Law and Egypt’s Vision 2030 serve as the foundation for the system governing sustainable development in Egypt, according to Assistant Planning Minister for Sustainable Development Affairs Mona Essam, who assessed the suggested national commitments to achieve the SDGs.
