The 12th edition of Pharmaconex 2025, Egypt’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturing exhibition, opened its doors on September 1 at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo, achieving record success with over 5,000 industry professionals and 350 exhibitors from 40 countries participating on the first day alone.
Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), this year’s edition reinforces Egypt’s ambitions to become a regional hub for pharmaceutical innovation and manufacturing.
A Platform for Global Pharmaceutical Innovation
Pharmaconex brings together the full pharmaceutical value chain—from raw materials, biologics, and machinery, to contract manufacturing, packaging solutions, and nutraceuticals. The 2025 edition has earned particular praise for its high-level participation, featuring both senior government officials and international business leaders.
New Zones and Conferences Drive Sector Growth
This year marked the debut of the Health and Wellness Zone, launched in partnership with Egypt’s National Food Safety Authority, emphasizing the rising demand for nutraceuticals across MENA markets.
An ambitious conference agenda also featured:
- Cleanroom Technology Conference, in collaboration with European experts
- Women in Pharma Forum
- Pharma Awards 2025
- Roundtables on pharmaceutical engineering, digital transformation, supply chain resilience, and quality assurance
Booming Market with Regional Influence
Egypt’s pharmaceutical market, valued at $3.1 billion in 2023, is projected to reach $5.2 billion by 2030, driven by localization efforts, R&D, and foreign investment. The estimated economic impact of this year’s event alone exceeds $38.8 million, highlighting the sector’s significance to national economic development.
Dr. Gamal El-Leithy reaffirmed the country’s leadership in the field: “Egypt’s pharmaceutical sector stands as a regional benchmark, backed by 85+ years of expertise. Our skilled professionals and scientists are the foundation for growth across Africa and the Middle East.”
Samar Awad added that North Africa’s pharmaceutical market is set to grow from $13 billion to $22 billion by the end of 2025, while the wider Middle East and Africa market is expected to exceed $60 billion by 2028. “Pharmaconex is enabling Egypt to ride this wave and transform into a regional pharmaceutical manufacturing powerhouse,” she stated.
Regional and Global Recognition
Pharmaconex is part of Informa’s global portfolio, which includes CPHI, the world’s largest pharmaceutical event series. The event’s international credibility was further strengthened by silver sponsorship from Oman’s Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ)—a testament to the region’s growing investment confidence in Egypt’s pharmaceutical ecosystem.
