Egypt’s Nour El Sherbini delivered a remarkable comeback to capture the 2026 Windy City Open title, rallying from two games down to defeat fellow Egyptian Amina Orfi in an 86-minute final.
El Sherbini fought back from a 2–0 deficit to claim a dramatic 3–2 victory, showcasing resilience and championship experience against one of the sport’s brightest young talents. The all-Egyptian final once again underscored Egypt’s dominance in women’s squash on the PSA World Tour.
In a post-match statement shared on social media, El Sherbini described the victory as one of grit and determination.
“UNBELIEVABLE,” she wrote. “From 2/0 down against a young, fearless opponent to turning it around 3/2. So proud I found the will and strength to dig deep when it mattered most to win the Windy City Open Title here in Chicago.”
She added: “All credit to Amina — an incredible athlete and an even better person. The future is bright.”
El Sherbini also expressed gratitude to her support system, saying, “What a week this has been. Grateful for my team, my family, my sponsors and everyone who believes in me and never writes me off. That support means everything.”
Orfi, one of Egypt’s fastest-rising squash stars, pushed the match to high intensity throughout the 86-minute contest, signaling a generational rivalry that could shape the sport’s future.
The victory adds another major PSA title to El Sherbini’s decorated career and reinforces her legacy as one of the most accomplished players in women’s squash history.
