Nine Titles Adorn Egyptian Women’s Squash History, Including Seven by Nour El Sherbini

Egyptian squash champion Nour El Sherbini, currently ranked world No. 2 in women’s squash, leads the list of Egyptian female players who have won the World Championship, with seven titles out of the nine secured by Egyptian women, ahead of the upcoming edition.

2023–2024: Nouran Gohar (Egypt)

2022–2023: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

2021–2022: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

2020–2021: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

2019–2020: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

2018–2019: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

2017: Raneem El Welily (Egypt)

2016: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

2015: Nour El Sherbini (Egypt)

With these impressive results, Nour El Sherbini stands as the most decorated Egyptian woman in squash history, having claimed seven world titles and played a key role in positioning Egypt as a dominant force in global squash.

The upcoming championship in Chicago is anticipated to be a high-stakes event, with the participation of world-class athletes and promising emerging talents, further reinforcing Egypt’s stature on the world squash stage.

At the moment, Egyptian squash players are preparing to participate in the World Championship, hosted by Chicago, USA, from May 8 to 17, 2025, with a total prize pool of $635,000 for both men and women.

The tournament will feature 39 Egyptian players:

Men’s Competition (15 players): Ali Farag, Mostafa Asal, Mazen Hesham, Fares Dessouky, Mohamed Abouelghar, Tarek Momen, Karim El Hammamy, Mohamed El Sherbini, Omar Mosaad, Youssef Soliman, Youssef Ibrahim, Yahya Elnawasany, Mohamed Zakaria, Karim Abdel Gawad, Ali Abouelanin.

Women’s Competition (23 players): Nouran Gohar, Nour El Sherbini, Hania El Hammamy, Malak Khafagy, Mariam Metwally, Fayrouz Abouelkheir, Hana Moataz, Amina Orfi, Haya Ali, Salma El Tayeb, Nada Abbas, Nour Abou El Makarem, Nour Heikal, Salma Hany, Menna Hamed, Kenzy Ayman, Zeina Mickawy, Sana Ibrahim, Rowan El Araby, Nadine Shahin, Nadine El Hammamy, Farida Mohamed, Hana Ramadan, Nardine Garas.
