Netflix Launches Short Film Project for Female Arab Directors

News Agencies

Netflix and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture have joined forces to empower female filmmakers in the Arab region by introducing the Women in Film – Bring Your Story to Life program. This initiative aims to select and support up to 25 creatives in producing short fiction films, with each project receiving a budget of $25,000.

Throughout the filmmaking process, the chosen groups will benefit from industry mentors, virtual consultations for scriptwriting and pre-shoot planning, and in-person support in Saudi Arabia during the editing and post-production stages.

This program is integral to Netflix’s broader commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the creative industry.

As expressed by Nuha Eltayeb, director of content for Netflix Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, the initiative seeks to amplify women’s voices from the Arab region and provide a nurturing environment for the next generation of female filmmakers. Through resources, mentorship, and a platform to showcase their talent, the program offers these filmmakers the opportunity to achieve their first credit and share their unique perspectives with the world.
