The National Council for Women reacted positively to the events of the Ramadan series Hadret El Omda, starring Egyptian Singer and Actress Ruby, which airs on Al Hayat Channel and the Watch it platform.
Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the NCW, praised the United Media Services Company (UMS) for producing this inspiring show that highlights the most critical women’s issues, especially FGM.
She spotlighted one scene in particular, where the mayor (Ruby) stood in the face of the crime of female genital mutilation.
Morsi said: Writers of the show did a great job and wrote the dialogue very professionally, quoting the actress’s character on the show in the scene where the heroine of the series contributed to stopping the murder of a child, saying: I will not speak to you about religion or the law, although religion prohibits the act and the law criminalizes it.
The President of the Council shared in her post on her page: We hear actual laws stated within the dialogue, praising everyone who contributed to this drama, saying: A special thanks to drama productions that spread the culture of protection against crimes, renowned writer Ibrahim Issa, UMS, superstar Ruby for her plausibly honest scene during the show, Hadret El Omda.
On their official Facebook page, the council quoted lines from the drama series and expressed their pride in the show for dealing with the issue of female circumcision.
